SFX  MAKEUP

Despite my Mother’s protests, I used to watch my uncles kill gruesome zombies in video games, so they’re most likely to blame for my love of creating fake blood and guts. But I got paid real human money to do some of the stuff you see below, so take that, Mom!

Latex and Gelatin

Latex and gelatin can be applied out-of-kit relatively quickly, and provide a cost-effective solution for many situations. However, it will need constant touch-ups on longer or more demanding shoots, and won’t stand up to constant movement all that well.

Silicone and Prosthetics

Silicone tends to be a better course of action for shoots that require something more durable.  Although there is a substantial price bump, silicone pieces will last longer, move better, and require fewer touch-ups.

Prosthetic peices can be pre-made before production begins to save you time on set, but could require a lot of prep time before shooting begins.  Multiple peices can be made from the same mold, so this is the ideal option for shoots that will go on for several days or weeks.
